About Us

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I am not a therapist. I am not a counsellor. I am not a life coach. I am the mother of seven children who was home full time for many years (I currently work part-time close to home—love that flexibility now that my children are a little older).

I’ve been married for seventeen years and I live on beautiful Prince Edward Island. I love coffee, dark chocolate, red wine, books, the beach, watching superhero movies with my kids, the fresh squeaky cheese curds you can only find in QC, intimate concerts, plays, and outdoor evenings with friends by a fire. I’m also a runner, a yogi, a part-time artist, an author, and a homeschooler.

We’ve been at this for quite a few years now, so I suppose one could call us “veteran homeschoolers”. While all of our children are currently homeschooled, we have had some children attend school at different periods of time, each gaining their own positive and negative experiences from their time spent in the public education system. Some may go back someday, who knows?

We are flexible. We are… fair (I hope?). We are open to the fact that all children have different personalities and different needs — as do their parents as educational facilitators — and are aware that education is personal as opposed to one-size-fits-all. So we roll with their needs as best as we can.

Enjoy your visit. 🙂

  1. Hi there! I’m the editor of Together Magazine (togethermagazine.ca) and I’m working on an article about a homeschooling family. Are you interested in being featured? I couldn’t find a “contact us” page so please email me if you’d like more info 🙂 sheila@mircommunications.com

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to reading your blog soon! Just got back from a trip to the ER with one of the boys who injured himself while carving a piece of wood. So it has been a hectic afternoon, and I am going to kick back and relax now lol. 🙂

      1. Ah yes, those ER visits… Does it come with homeschooling? Just kidding. We’ve had our share of those too. Hope he’s doing better today! 🙂

  2. Thank you! He is a real little trooper. He is doing much better but is a little miffed that it’s hot out and he can’t swim in the stream lol…

  3. Your philosophy sounds quite similar to mine- my two older kids were homeschooled and then chose public high school. My younger boys have never been to school, but we take it one day at a time. Looking forward to reading your blog 🙂
